Jean also talks with Stephanie Johnson, Manager of the PDMP Utilization Project for NC CSRS about recent updates to the system and the ease of practice integration through EHR systems.

Jean Fisher Brinkley

Jean Fisher Brinkley is NCMB’s Communications Director, a role that involves developing and overseeing production of communications materials and strategies needed to enhance public and professional awareness and understanding of the Board and its mission. She joined NCMB in 2008, after an 11-year career in newspaper journalism, most of it dedicated to reporting on medicine, health policy and the business aspects of health care.

Brinkley earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Mills College in Oakland, CA, and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley. She lives in Raleigh with her husband and two daughters.

Stephanie Johnson, M.P.H., M.B.A.

Stephanie Johnson, MPH, MBA served as the Clay County Public Health Director before joining NCDHHS and their Controlled Substances Reporting System Utilization Project as Grant Manager. No stranger to public health, she has served with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as a Public Health Advisor under the Public Health Associates Program - Office of the Director (OD), Office for State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Support (OSTLTS), and has worked Internationally with the Grenada Ministry of Health and Education in the West Indies for private health clinics and the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, STEM, and Global Innovations. Additionally, she consults on national pandemic service-line managed programs as the subject matter expert for epidemiological concerns, vaccine distribution and quality assurance, performance management and compliance. She serves as an adjunct professor of health and human services, is in her third term as the President of the CDC PHAP Alumni Association, and is an active mentor for graduate students internationally on health policy, business management, and disease control.
